We share a true passion for great beer, as well as honoring the founders’ intention to create a brewery and taproom that supported the notion of “doing something we love for the community we live, support, and thrive in – to make a difference for all of us.” By perfecting our beer styles, creating award-winning recipes, and providing a fun, casual and inviting space to enjoy great beer, food, and music, we’ve maintained the fan base of both locals and tourists alike!
CLARK & JENNY WILLIAMS, Founders
Still a young man of 41, in 2003 Clark Williams retired from serving his country as a United States Marine and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. 5 years later in 2008, he crafted his first batch of home-brewed beer, and as they say, “the rest was history!” His love for the science behind it (derived from work experience in his past) paired with his passion for trying new craft beers across the country while traveling with his wife fueled the desire to eventually open Frog Level Brewing in 2011. It was Waynesville’s first brewery in Haywood County, North Carolina. Both Clark and Jenny are natives of Western North Carolina, and Jenny is also a retired US Navy Nurse Corps Commander and Desert Storm Veteran.
MATTHEW NORMAN, Brewmaster
Matthew Norman was born in Tampa, but spent his summers in Waynesville as a child and young adult. He started home brewing in 2013 and knew this was something he wanted to do professionally. In 2014 Matt moved to Waynesville and went to school for brewing at ABTech in Asheville. Matt interned at Frog Level for 10 weeks in 2015 which led to his current position as Brewmaster. In 2016 Matt graduated with an AS from ABTech in Brewing Distillation and Fermentation Sciences. —
