SUMMARY:Shelly Vogler at Frog Level Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Shelly Vogler\nShelly Garvin Vogler\, aka Sylva Soul\, is a singer/songwriter with a distinctive soul sound and blues vibe. A native of Sylva\, North Carolina\, born into a musical family\, Shelly grew up singing as there was always a band in the basement of her childhood home.  At the age of 15\, she rocked Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee” as her first solo performance. Over the next few years\, she picked up her mother’s guitar and started singing at local open mic nights\, but put her musical aspirations aside to focus on raising her son.  \nAt the age of 30\, she started a band called Home Remedy and they played throughout Western NC for a few years\, and in 2011\, she began leading worship at The Summit Church in Sylva\, NC.  At the end of 2018\, her father\, who had been one of her biggest musical inspirations\,  her hero and mentor along this road of life\, died suddenly leaving Shelly heartbroken and lost. In her grief\, she began writing songs to heal her soul.  Nine months later\, more tragedy struck when her home burned to the ground in the middle of the night.  She and her son survived the fire\, but lost all but a few of their material possessions.  Miraculously\, her song notebook survived!  And so did her passion for writing and performing music.  \nOver the past few years\, she has spent much time baring her soul and spirit through song.  Her music is inspired by such artists as Susan Tedeschi\, Etta James\, Aretha Franklin\, Chris Stapleton\, Stevie Wonder\, Chris Cornell and Stevie Ray Vaughan. More recently\, she has had the pleasure of singing with Shane Meade and the Sound\, Geoff McBride\, and the Buchanan Boys. Shelly’s powerful voice is a musical gift that allows her to touch her listeners’ hearts through her journey of evolution and self-discovery. So come out\, grab a drink and listen to a little bit of her Sylva Soul!!

DESCRIPTION:Yoga & Beer: a new way to get loose at Frog Level Brewing. \nBeginning Wednesday\, February 1\, we’ll be hosting a weekly yoga class in our new space\, The Lineside\, next door to the Frog Level Brewing taproom. The class\, which runs from 6-7pm\, is $10\, which also includes a pint of your choice from the taproom. \nClasses being provided by Rob McAllen (aka The Yoga Dude)\nHe can tailor any class to your needs! Yoga can be molded to any person\, and for any situation. Let him know what you want to gain from your yoga practice\, and together you’ll form a game plan that’s suitable for you. \nAll skill levels are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Join us in the fight against colorectal cancer on Saturday\, January 28! Enjoy food and drink all day\, and live music from Ben & the Borrowed Band\, 7-9pm. \nLet us provide some background:\nAt age 27\, JJ Singleton of Haywood County was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2015. To date\, he has bravely endured a total of 10 surgeries\, 82 days in the hospital\, 124 rounds (and counting!) of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. JJ’s cancer is incurable and he is currently fighting to maintain stability with his current treatments. \nAll day we will be donating $1 from each pint sale to JJ’s fund. DESCRIPTION:About Dave Desmelik\nDave Desmelik is a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist whose musical focus is on original compositions. What attracts listeners to Desmelik’s tunes\, old and new\, is the element of authenticity incorporated in them. There is no sugar coating involved. His songs are not wrapped in false smiles\, rather they are stark and open and tend to settle on the pulse of everyday life. An unclosed and evolving journal of thoughts set to music and melodies in prose and instrumental performance. Desmelik was born and raised just outside of Atlanta\, GA\, but has traveled and lived in a multitude of landscapes. He currently resides in Brevard\, NC. He was an original member of Onus B. Johnson\, a successful band based in Flagstaff\, AZ in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. This band was on the front wave of jamgrass while maintaining the passion for songwriting. Today\, Desmelik continues to pursue an ascending path as a solo artist.
